Leonard J. Hope is the founder and managing partner of Hope Baldauff Hartman, LLC. Leonard has fifteen years of experience as a lawyer, including significant experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, especially the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.

Leonard has assisted clients of all sizes with the creation of patent programs, third-party matters including non-infringement and invalidity opinions, product clearance, and patent litigation. Leonard has extensive experience with computer technologies including computer system BIOS and EFI, complex mass storage systems, internet-related technologies, networking, business methods, telecommunications, operating systems, and application software. Leonard also has extensive experience with ideation and forward patenting.

Leonard obtained his law degree from the Georgia State University College of Law, cum laude, and has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida, in Tampa. Leonard also has significant work experience and training in software, computer, and electrical technologies.

Prior to forming Hope Baldauff Hartman, LLC, Leonard was the managing partner of Merchant & Gould's Atlanta, Georgia office.

Leonard's published works include: The Licensed-Foundry Defense in Patent Infringement Cases: Time to Take Some of the Steam Out of Patent Exhaustion, Georgia State University Law Review, Vol. 11, No. 3, April 1995.

Leonard served as an adjunct professor of law at Clayton State College and University, Morrow, Georgia, from 2001-2003. Leonard is also a named inventor on U.S. Patent No. 6,342,314 (“Geometry Change Diffusion Tube for Metal-Air Batteries”).

Leonard is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is a licensed attorney in the State of Georgia.

Leonard was also a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association during 2007-2008.
